I am just wondering what everyone else is running when they fish slip bobbers.  I am currently using  6 lb mono for my main line and a 3 ft flourocarbon leader to a 1/16 oz jig but I am think of switching to 10 or 12 lb main line because I fish a lot in trees on Devils Lake.  Also, what color line are other running?

Thanks,

Cody

Devils Lake set up, or anywhere else for that matter.

20 lb SpiderWire Stealth for main line.

10 pound Trilene Professional Grade Floro for a leader.

Use a small barrel swivel to attach leader to main line.

Todays Tackle Wave Buster Bobber.

Pre-tie several jigs and hooks on 24 inch leaders and store on a pool noodle piece about a foot long.

Whenyou get snagged, just break the leader and tie a new one on.  No need to even adjust the knot.

If you want to fish lighter line at other lakes, just use lighter leaders.

I like a mono that doesn't absorb water a special steelhead float fishing line called Siglon F.  Works great doesn't float per say but lays on top of the water and allows for easy pick up when you get a bite you are right on the fish with no bow in your line for the swing and a miss.

If using braid a trick that works great is to put fly floatant on it or silicon to help prevent it from absorbing water and helping it to stay on the surface.

I use the setup similar to Johnnie -

14lb Fireline (Flame Green) for the main line - that way I can see where the line is laying on the water and more precisely time my hookset.

8lb 100% Fluorocarbon for the leaders. Small Berkley ball bearing swivel between the two. I do like the Wave Buster Bobber. It flys good and is easy to determine if you are set too deep (bobber does not stand up).

Thanks for the responses.  I have some Fireline 14 on hand and will give it a try.  I have been using swivels and will continue to use Fluorocarbon leaders, since the seem to be the most effective.

Johnnie, thanks for the tip on pre-tying the leaders, it seems like something simple but it will save a lot of time when the fish are biting.

Be sure to watch the knots you tie with that Fireline...I believe most people suggest using a Palomar knot...interested in hearing what others are tying with Fireline.
