Question:
Q: I presently use fireline for my vertical jigging applications with good success. Is that also a good line for casting jigs or is there a better choice?Chris

A: You're right Chris, FireLine is a great line choice for vertical jigging, but when it comes to pitching jigs, there are better choices. In the past I have mainly used 6 pound Berkley Sensation - a limber line for casting, but low stretch for better sensitivity. Last fall I did get to fish the new Berkley Vanish Transition line. This is the fluorocarbon line that is bright yellow above water and clear below. This will be the line I use now. I like the fact that I can easily see the jig hitting bottom or the line Berkley Vanish Transitionjumping when a fish bites - but yet the fish get clear line down to the lure. I am also impressed with the knot strength, even in the lower 6 pound test diameters. So I guess you can say I'm making the transition to Transition.
